SPL To Pay Players During Season Six
Commissioner Alex Young
Since our beginning, the Sixes Prize League has been committed to advancing lacrosse by spotlighting Sixes—the official Olympic format—as the most accessible, entertaining, and viewer-friendly version of the sport. We provide a dynamic, inclusive platform that celebrates competition, rewards excellence, and empowers athletes at all levels to grow, connect, and thrive, while reaching an engaged audience through regional cable television broadcasts and internet streams.
To do this, we need dedicated players to participate in the SPL. We continually reward this dedication and belief in the league with championship prize money ranging from $1,500 to $ 3,000 for the winning teams. Although everyone playing in this league deserves compensation, whether they win the prize money or not.
So, during SPL Season 6, each player will receive a one-time cash payment of $25 at the conclusion of their Week 3 regular season game.
Season registration is required to receive the payment.
This payment pool marks the first Collective Bargaining Agreement in SPL history, and the first time the Prize League has committed to paying players for their participation in this groundbreaking lacrosse league. The salary cap is estimated to be $1,500 for this season.
The addition of player salaries signals the SPL’s commitment to offering a high-end lacrosse playing experience, with a focus on player development, safety, and the growth of lacrosse and the Sixes Prize League.
Thank you for playing!
Alex Young, SPL Commissioner
